EP 85: Reimagining the Estate Planning Process with Modern Technology with ClearEstate CEO Davide Pisanu

A lawyer. A McKinsey consultant. A Cirque du Soleil executive. And now, the co-founder of a company that is reimagining one of the most complex and emotionally charged areas of personal finance: estate planning.

 

Davide Pisanu’s journey to launching ClearEstate isn’t your typical startup origin story. It’s not everyday that one’s journey goes through not only meeting rooms but some of the world’s biggest stages. But that range of experience is exactly what makes his perspective so valuable—especially for financial advisors looking to think differently, operate more efficiently, and ultimately build businesses that last.

 

In this conversation, we get into why cross-industry thinking is a superpower, and what it really takes to build a tech platform inside a space that's been mostly paper and probate for decades. 

 

Davide Pisanu is the Co-Founder and CEO of ClearEstate - an end-to-end technological and service platform supporting estate planning and settlement across Canada and the USA.

 

Davide is an experienced senior executive, professional and entrepreneur. He played a key role in the transformation of Cirque du Soleil as VP Strategy and Transformation, as well as SVP of the Resident Shows and the Affiliated Companies division. He co-founded Montreal-based boutique strategy firm Juniper and continues to act as advisor and investor in various startups. At McKinsey, he was a leader in the N.A. institutional investor as well as asset management practices. Davide spent the first decade of his professional life as a lawyer at Davis Polk & Wardwell as well as a senior counsel within the foreign affairs portfolio of the GoC. Davide holds an MBA and a J.D. from McGill University, as well as an LLM from the London School of Economics.
