Given the choice, I prefer the breadcrumbs of grace over an entire loaf of law. Have you ever noticed that when it comes to legalism and the law, that so much of the church is like that 1972 television commercial “Leggo my Eggo?” They simply do not want to leggo of the erroneous doctrine they’ve been programmed with and forsake the hybrid gospel. Is it pride? Is it fear? Is it embarrassment? It is the climate of satisfaction at work? Perhaps their too sophisticated. Or could their reservation be coming from the thought of starting over? A gospel that adds even a thimble of law to an ocean of grace is an imposter gospel.
