Morning Report 10 Nov 20: US sharemarkets rallied to record intra-day highs on Tuesday

A large-scale coronavirus vaccine study delivered promising results. US drugmaker Pfizer (+7.7%) and its German partner BioNTech (+13.9%) said data from the trial of their vaccine showed it was more than 90% effective in preventing COVID-19. Shares of American Express (+21.4%), Boeing (+13.7%), Bank of America (+14.2%) and Carnival (+39.3%) all soared. But Netflix (-8.6%), Amazon (-5.1%), Zoom Video (-17.4%) and Peloton (-20.3%) all held back the Nasdaq index. The Dow Jones index closed up by 834 points or 3% - after being up over 1,600 points at session highs. The S&P500 index was 1.2% higher. But the Nasdaq index fell by 181 points or 1.5%.
