Calling All Cars - The Hollywood Kidnapping

Inside a small house on Brown L Street in Hollywood, Mrs. Margaret Worth and her neighbor, Mrs. Norton are setting the table for the family dinner.  A man comes to the front door and tells Mrs. Worth that there has been an accident on Santa Monica Boulevard. Her mother-in-law has been hurt. The man offers her a ride to the scene of the accident.  An hour later, Mr. Worth arrives home from work.  After hearing about the news from Mrs. Norton, he gets into his car and drives to the approximate location of the accident, but finds no evidence. He asks several merchants in the area, but they say that no accident has occurred.
