Mid-Session 5 Apr 18: Financial stocks help lift the market higher

The local sharemarket is extending yesterday’s gains, helped by a positive lead from Wall Street and strong gains in the financial sector. The ASX 200 is up 34 points or 0.6% to 5,795.
