Morning Report 7 Jun 21: US sharemarkets climbed to near all-time highs on Friday

US sharemarkets were pushed higher by gains in technology shares. Megacaps Microsoft (+2.1%) and Apple (+1.9%) both lifted, as longer-dated US Treasury yields fell. Shares of Salesforce.com (+2.9%) and Intel (+2%) were among the strongest performers on the Dow Jones index. At the close of trade, the Dow added 179 points or 0.5% to be less than 0.1% below its all-time high. The S&P 500 index gained 0.9% to be less than 3 points below its May 7 record closing high. And the Nasdaq index was up by 200 points or 1.5%. Over the week the Dow Jones rose by 0.7% with the S&P 500 up by 0.6% and the Nasdaq 0.5% higher.
