Market Close 19 Jan 23: ASX 200 hits fresh 8 ½ month high

The Australian sharemarket rose for the 10th time in 12 days, with the ASX 200 lifting by 0.57%. A weaker December update on employment has opened the door slightly for the Reserve Bank to keep rates on hold sooner than markets expected.
