The European Parliament today called for a big increase in EU financing of clean air energy projects. MEPs also voted for an EU innovation fund that will provide financial support for renewable energy, carbon capture and storage and low-carbon innovation projects. Today’s vote is all part of a drive to get European citizens to understand how to innovate and use digital tools to produce, consume and preserve more sustainable and cleaner energy. The Fine Gael MEP Sean Kelly, who is on the European Parliament’s Industry, Research and Energy Committee, says the innovation fund could yield exciting opportunities for Irish businesses.
