Episode 9 - Finding My Way with Dr. Aleka Jackson - Jarrell

Starting her life in Compton, California and moving to Oxnard, California, Aleka began to experience racism for the first time in her life. She then moved to South Central Los Angeles where a whole new set of challenges began for her. Books were always her saving grace and her thirst for knowledge kept Aleka moving forward. The next thing Aleka knows, she is the mother to eight children and knows her passion for teaching that began as a young child needs to become a reality for her life. No matter the challenges that Aleka faced, she knew that getting her teaching degree and eventually working hard to achieve her PhD, would allow her to make a difference in the lives of not only her children, but those in the high desert.
