Tomoe Gozen was ahead of her time. Women in the military still face an uphill climb, but Tomoe was a master Samurai in 12th century Japan. She was in charge of hundreds, if not thousands of seasoned male Samurai. She was a legend in her own time and would go on to be revered as one of the greatest warriors ever.
