Mid-Session 7 Jan 2021: ASX 200 is surging by 1.5%

The Australian sharemarket is up 1.5% at lunch following Democrats gaining control of the US Senate, clearing the way for greater spending. Mining, energy and bank stocks are pushing the local Bourse higher.
