In this week's episode of the Feed U Podcast, I lay down the 6 top items you need to consider to create an optimal user experience. User Experience (UX) is a deep subject, I just want to give you what you NEED to know.
There are constantly studies being done regarding the impact of User Experience. A good web designer will be knowledgable about what is current and what needs to be considered when creating your website. I don't want to overwhelm you, I just want to inform you. Which is why I'm only covering the 6 BIGGIES that you need to keep in mind. No design degree required. :D

1. Take some time thinking about your menu (navigation)
-Is it cumbersome or complicated? What does it look like on mobile?
2. Do you have a clear Call To Action directing your visitors to the next phase of your sales funnel?
-70% of small businesses don't have a call to action, this is HUGE differentiator for you and your website. Have you optimized your landing pages? You can get more information on Landing Pages vs. Optin Forms in Episode 51.
3. Are you using the power of white space?
-White space is critical to give your eyes the opportunity to rest. Not enough of it and your site will become overwhelming to visitors and they will just leave. (NOT what you want.) Work with your designer to ensure that white space is a priority in your design. Also take into consideration the use of headings (Google loves these).
4. Is your website responsive?
Meaning does it look the same or similar and is it easy to navigate regardless of which type of device (think desktop, laptop, phone, tablet) they are visiting from? If it's a HOT MESS on mobile, you definitely have some work to do. Google is penalizing you - YES RIGHT NOW because your mobile responsiveness is not optimal and approximately 83% of your website visitors are immediately clicking away. This is a PRIORITY. Get to it friend.
5. Are you including SEO search terms in your content?
SEO is a big deal especially if you are trying to increase traffic organically. Luckily I did a great podcast episode with Mike Michaleson to help you out in Episode 18. There is even a free guide you can get to help you get started. You can find that here.
6. You have to have a strategy for your website, just like any other part of your marketing.
Without a plan, you are winging it. When was the last time winging it actually worked? I'm guessing not very often, and when it did, it was a fluke. Some things to stick in your strategy include how are you adding value? How are you connecting your website to the other components of your sales funnel? Are you actually asking people to pay you money? If not, how come? Are you in the business of charity? (Even if you are a charity, you still need money to operate, so get to it already!)
