Easter Anguston Farm which was threatened with closure has been given a reprieve through a fund raising effort organised by The Evening Express. Easter Anguston is run by social care organisation VSA. The site supports those with learning difficulties to get vital work experience and is a popular visitor attraction welcoming more than 20,000 visitors each season. Milene Munro whose 7 year old son Braeden died from a brain tumour in 2014 is heading up Glow Gold and is preparing to distribute 25,000 cards to schools and nurseries with health information. She is being supported by CALICO an Aberdeen cancer organisation. As pert of the Annual Glow Gold September campaign, children who have or have come through cancer are making wooden tags to put onto a special tree in Seaton Park with ribbons. There is also a special Glow Gold garden in the park.
Charlie House are inviting entries for the Big Sunday variety show which will raise money for the charity. Charlie House supports children and young people with complex disabilities and life limiting conditions. The Big Sunday Showcase screens on Zoom on Sunday 2 August from 6 pm. The public will be asked to vote for the winner. Charlie House are raising money for a specialist unit in the grounds of Woodend Hospital through The Big Build Appeal.
NHS workers are being honoured in grass on Udny Green. The work was undertaken by Alan Smith and at the suggestion of local poet Jeannie Price. Alan's work has spurred other local residents to queue for cutting the grass on the green. Udny Community Facebook Group has been very busy with offers and enquiries
