today was an interesting scripture and prayer time.
I finished both books of Samuel… and had these thoughts:
King David… 1st and 2nd Samuel is a tragedy in my eyes. David given it all, set the bar high, kept honoring King Saul even though he wanted to kill him. Fought like a champion of champions and raised up an army that might never be matched. He had at least 6 wives, numerous concubines, riches, position, admiration, talent, power… He had it all and he let his penis make a decision that ruined him. EVERYTHING came crashing down… burned it to the ground. His family is caustic on every front… I am not even sure why he allowed the throne to continue in Davids family…
But God called him a man after Gods own heart. He had it all, threw it away, and God still loved him.
Post Jesus
Then I flipped to my NT portion of scripture and started to read out of Luke 15
The Prodigals son.
As I prayed and meditated over these stories my heart and eyes were opened up. I was playing the part of the prodigals brother in how I viewed Davids life.
When in reality now after the cross we are all allowed to be a prodigal and know that God will welcome us back… am I saying sin and relax because God will forgive you? NO, you will still reap what you sow even though you will still have a relationship with God and go to heaven.
I want to remind you all no mater where you are all at, you are loved by God regardless of what people say or think. So if you have some of those brothers judging you, just simply trust Gods grace.
