EU has no right to set national tax rates – Harkin

The EU Commission has no right to dictate the tax rates of EU member states. That’s the warning from the Independent MEP Marian Harkin. She was speaking in the European Parliament where MEPs this week adopted a resolution supporting a European Commission anti-tax avoidance package. However, a number of Irish MEPs including Marian Harkin expressed concerns that the Commission plans may interfere with the tax sovereignty of EU countries.
