Market Close 14 Jan 20: Local shares end at record highs

The Australian share market closed at record highs on Tuesday ASX 200 closed at 6962 up 58.5pts or 0.85%, while the All Ordinaries Index closed at 7078, for a gain of 57.8pts or 0.82%. The improvement came after US share markets closed at record highs overnight.

There’s a feel good factor at work as investors look forward to the US and China signing the first part of a trade deal later in the week. There was some good economic news to further brighten the picture with both China’s exports and imports rebounding sharply in December and easily beating the expectations of economists.
