Morning Report 10 Jan 19 : US stocks advance in volatile trade as investors take in higher oil prices and Fed Minutes

 US sharemarkets rose again on Wednesday on optimism about US-China trade talks. The US Trade Representative office said China pledged to purchase "a substantial amount" of agricultural, energy and manufactured goods and services from the United States. The Chinese delegation will travel to Washington for more trade talks on January 22. With an hour of trade to go, the Dow Jones was higher by 150 points or 0.6% after trading in a 209 point range. The S&P500 index was up by 0.6%. The Nasdaq index was up by 70 points or 1.0%.
