Sacrifice, the future, "God" and the social contract are all connected, but we need a real foundation and a real connection to that foundation for a civilization to endure. The imago dei is that foundation in part 4 but the question remains if the foundation leads to anything. "Shoulder the heavy burden of your cross and drag it up hill to the kingdom of God" is heroic and fills us with the experience of meaning and may make the world a better place but is there actually a consummation?
