The Thank You Sandwich

I was texting backwards and forwards with a friend of mine today.

 

He is looking to buy a new car and was asking me to agree with him and pray that God will lead him in the transaction.

 

I text him back and found myself starting with “thank you God for this”, thank you God for that…” and I realized that I talk to God in a thank you sandwich.

 

• Firstly, thanking Him for who He is (not what He does] - but who He is.
• Then I talk through the issue with Him like I'm talking to my Dad.
• Then I thank Him that we get to walk through this together.

 

This way of having a prayer conversation with Him is just loaded with goodness and gratitude, and a real reminder that we're having a conversation with our Father who adores us (and not asking a slot machine to throw us a win).
