156. Burnt out on graphic design, she joined the Ironworkers Union and became a Journeyman

Guest:  Blue Coble Journeyman Ironworker

Back in 2011, Blue Coble was feeling burnt out on her career as a graphic designer. She decided to join the Ironworkers union and begin an apprenticeship. And she never looked back.

She graduated from her training as Apprentice of the Year and now holds her Journeyman card as a structural and reinforcing ironworker. Somewhere along the way she became a spokesmodel for Dove Beauty Bar and now regularly speaks at events to recruit and retain women in the trades. In her current position, Blue is a Quality Manager for McCarthy Building.

And when she’s not working she’s big into roadtrips with her husband and dogs, reading comic books, occasionally working on her 1960 Mercury Comet and learning how to sew.
