The David Spoon Experience 6-10-24 part 2

1) We continue in Genesis, Chapter 4, Verse 18, which begins some genealogical processes. Enoch starts to have children, one of whom is Methuselah, Enoch's grandson, and the person who lives the longest in the entire Bible. Enoch's great-grandson is Lamech, who we will find out is somewhat unpleasant, like, yuck!
2) We learn that Lamech marries two women, Ada and Zilla. Ada gives birth to a son named Jabal, who becomes the first herdsman to live in tents. He could be considered one of the first campers. His brother, named Jubal, turns out to be the first musician. Lamech's other son, born from Zilla, is the first to work with metals, forging bronze and iron. So, this family is producing some pretty remarkable people.
3) Unfortunately, sin continues to grow in the framework of humanity, as it does to this day. Lamech tells both his wives that he has killed a young man who attacked and wounded him. Then, with audacity, pride, and foolishness, he declares that if anyone killed Cain, they were supposed to be punished seven times. If somebody harms him, they'll be killed 77 times. This might be a direct reference to what Jesus was talking about regarding forgiveness 77 times or 490 times. But then again, it may not be. Regardless, Lamech is deluded if he thinks that his punishments should be greater than God's.
4) Returning to Adam and Eve in Genesis 4, Verse 25, Adam sleeps with Eve again, and she gives birth to another son and names him Seth, which means "granted". When Seth grows up, he has a child and names that son Enosh. It is during his lifetime that people begin to worship the Lord. Remember, while evil is growing, good is also growing. They are both present. That is what happens when you eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They grow together.
