From the Frontline: Ethical and Edifying Journalism
Join me as I interview investigative journalist, Gerda Potgieter, editor of Devoted magazine and author of a landmark book analysing unethical journalism: a Journey to the Truth: the case of KwaSizabantu Mission. What are the principles for ethical journalism? So much of what we read in the media is sordid, scandalous, sensational and superficial. What about the good news? Yes, there is much evil in the world, but where sin increased, God's grace increased much more. Instead of only reporting on what the devil and his disciples are doing, surely Christian journalists can also report on what God is accomplishing, in spite of evil. There must be positive and inspiring testimonies to report on. How can we more uplifting and edifying in our communications?
“brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things. The things which you learned and received and heard and saw in me, these do, and the God of peace will be with you.”
