The majority of MEPs today voted in favour of the EU-Canada Trade deal known as CETA. The Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement will remove most tariffs between the EU and Canada and supporters of it say it will provide substantial trading opportunities between the two blocs. Those against the deal have warned it will be bad for workers, the environment, the food industry and other sectors of society. However, the Fine Gael MEP Deirdre Clune says the CETA deal provides ‘enormous potential’ for Ireland.
