It is cognitively apprehensive that  we cannot do anything about the things that have happened in the past; however, understanding something cognitively differs greatly from fathoming it on an emotional level. Those who fail to learn from the mistakes of their past are doomed to repeat those very mistakes which means a life of wisdom must inevitably involve contemplating regarding our past to extract invaluable lessons.
