An Irish woman is in the running for a key EU banking watchdog post.
Sharon Donnery – who is the deputy governor of the Irish Central Bank – was one of three people to be considered for the chair of the European Central Bank’s Single Supervisory Mechanism.
The European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee interviewed Ms Donnery for the position on Tuesday.
The Fine Gael MEP Brian Hayes, who sits on the Parliament’s ECON Committee - explains the importance of the role.
