It’s Week 2 of Bloody Samtember, our deep dive into the action films of that drunken old creep they called ‘Bloody Sam,’ Sam Peckinpah. This time around we’re gabbing about his film THE GETAWAY (1972), wherein Steve McQueen and Ali MacGraw play a Bonnie and Clyde-eque pair of bandits running to the border with a suitcase full of stolen cash while being pursued by a mustachioed Sollozzo from THE GODFATHER, a busty and braless Sally Struthers, and her veterinarian husband Harold, whom she makes a cuckold of along the way, many times over. Strap in, because we’ve got a lot to say about this one.
