Morning Report 5 Dec 19: Stocks firm as trade concerns ease

US sharemarkets rose on Wednesday on optimism about global trade issues. Shares in Alphabet Inc rose 1.9% after it said Sundar Pichai, who has run its core Google search business since 2015, would take the reins as Chief Executive of the parent company. At the close, the Dow Jones index was up by 147 points or 0.5%. The S&P500 index rose by 0.6% and the Nasdaq index gained 46 points or 0.5%.
