US Pre-Close 19 Dec 18: Stocks fade from strong start

The US sharemarket remains volatile ahead of the Federal Reserve decision Thursday morning. The Dow Jones is up just 0.1% with an hour of trade left (up 1.4% at its best). The price of oil is down by more than 7% to a 14-month low on concerns of oversupply and lower global growth. Boeing is up after raising its dividend and Johnson & Johnson reaffirmed guidance despite the asbestos scandal which has hit its shares in recent days.
