Mid-Session 4 Jun 18: Banks & miners lift the Australian sharemarket higher

Local shares are firmer in early trade, boosted by gains in the financial and materials sector. The market has also been helped by a positive lead from Wall Street, which was buoyed by better than expected employment data on Friday.
