touchSATELLITE SYMPOSIUM for touchNEUROLOGY
Listen to this touch satellite symposium recorded live in March 2023 at the AD/PD™ 2023 International Conference on Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s Diseases and related neurological disorders.
Prof. Jeffrey Cummings (University of Nevada, Las Vegas, NV, USA), the chair for the symposium, is joined by Prof. Liana Apostolova (Indiana University School of Medicine, Indianapolis, IN, USA), Prof. Oskar Hansson (Lund University, Lund, Sweden) and Prof. Charlotte Teunissen (Amsterdam University Medical Centers, Amsterdam, The Netherlands).
The first session, led by Prof. Liana Apostolova (05:44), focuses on the importance of a timely and accurate diagnosis based on the underlying pathophysiology of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and how this informs the ATN classification system for AD biomarkers. This is followed by audience Q&A (18:30).
The second session, led by Prof. Oskar Hansson (33:09), discusses the validity and performance data for AD blood-based biomarkers in comparison to current neuroimaging. This is followed by audience Q&A (49:12).
In the third session, Prof. Charlotte Teunissen (01:01:05) looks at how blood-based biomarkers may revolutionize the diagnostic and prognostic work-up of AD and improve the design of interventional trials, with the potential to be easily accessible for widespread clinical use. This is followed by audience Q&A (01:18:48).
The symposium concludes with a panel discussion in which the faculty provide their insights on selected Q&A from the audience (01:29:40).
