Over 24 Billion dollars on dog food. Have you ever seen a dog buy dog food?
Who is buying it? NOT THE DOGS!
How do we know the dogs like it?…. come on, I mean really- my dogs will eat egg shells with coffee grounds on it and then lick their… well ok, you know where I am going.
People aren’t buying dog food by taste…
*EVER BEEN IN A PET STORE AND SEE SOMEONE ASK FRO SAMPLES TO TASTE?
THEY BUY by feeling. They want to feel something.
- I really love my dog
- My dog will be healthier and happier
- My dog will live longer and I can have him around more
In our Christian walk we must take stock in why we do what we do as men - as Christian men.
What do we do for a feeling VS. what we do because it is what scripture says to do!
I got news for you- if you are starting out in this Xn walk thing… it may take a while for the feelings to come.
this is typically how it rolls (and I am generalizing here)
You don’t have a personal relationship with Christ…
You go to church because it feels right.
At some point you confess Jesus as your Lord and savior - this really feels good.
then again at some point you begin to put some trust in him…
THE FEELINGS START TO WEAR OFF A LITTLE…life gets harder.
Choice A. you stay there and mix your own feelings and beliefs with scripture and just maintain enough to get to heaven.
Choice B. You push on acting and doing and believing what scripture says. Jesus goes beyond just being your savior - he becomes your Lord.
At this point the feeling goes beyond a good feeling and it becomes the right feeling… Wether easy or hard, good or bad - it feels right to serve God.
My Dad said most peoples theology is 10% experience, 10% study and 80% personality.
I agree.
This is why we must be willing to realize that we do a lot of stuff in our day to day walk based on feelings and not on scripture… that should scare all of us… even though it tends to be human nature.
FEELINGS
Dr. Albert Ellis discovered this mental chain of events, he was the pioneer or cognitive psychology. This pattern can be positively and negatively cyclical.
BELIEFS (how people see the world and life in general) PRODUCES THOUGHTS (These find their source in their deep seated beliefs) PRODUCE FEELINGS (thoughts produce feelings. This is the motor to our actions) PRODUCE ACTIONS which in turn ultimately causes us to be/act what we believe – we act who we believe we are.

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.
Avoid godless chatter, because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly.
2 thoughts: “handles the word of truth” - you study it like your life depends on it… because it does. You’re proof in studying it is by the fact that you live it!
Second thought - avoid Godless chatter - empty babbling of what people think and feel.
*so what am I saying… don’t go by your feelings, go by Gods word… act on it and you will become like Christ.
Todays challenge: Check your motives. Ask yourself why you serve God the way you do and see if it based more on upbringing, feelings, babbling or the word of God!
