I have never been as afraid as I was when I realised that my gut instinct was never going to shut the fuck up.

A poker magazine snapped me up. The Editor-in-Chief called me the Welsh Hunter.S.Thompson, and that my Gonzo style of writing was perfectly suited to the poker industry.
I had to Google ‘Thompson’ and ‘Gonzo’.
Another confusing time was when I called my best friend to tell him that I was contemplating leaving my career, so I could write; hoping to find the time and money to start The Truth About Alcohol.
“You’re fucking nuts,” said my mate. “I have read your stuff, and it’s shit.”
I know, deep down, in the intestines desperately trying to escape through the bottom of my body that he was trying to help me by frightening some sense into me.
But let me ask you this.
Do we want friends who use these tactics?
Do we?
There are 7.5 billion people on this planet.
Fuck those friends.
Find the ones that when you pick up the phone and tell them you are about to make a life-changing decision like quitting your job, leaving your wife or becoming someone that doesn’t drink alcohol - they say, “Good on you. I have your back. Tell me what you need.”
A new TTAA Taster begins on Nov 1st, and the TTAA Intensive is available to change your life whenever you’re ready. Email me at thetruthaboutalcohol@gmail.com for details on how to join.
