Market Close 7 Mar 19: Local shares continue to climb despite losses for major miners

The Aussie market has now improved for six of the last seven sessions with the ASX 200 gaining another 18 points or 0.3% to 6263.9 and hitting 6-month highs. Miners lagged with Rio Tinto (RIO), BHP Group (BHP) and South32 all trading ex-dividend. Retail stocks advanced despite weaker than expected retail sales in January.
