Should you organize your LinkedIn and GitHub profiles BEFORE applying for jobs, or afterward?

Since it takes companies a little bit of time to look at your application, is it better to apply for the job first, and then spend time cleaning up GitHub, LinkedIn, etc,, or should you do that work first?
