US Close 17 Nov 16: The Dow Jones fell for the first time in eight sessions

US sharemarkets were mostly weaker on Wednesday with the exception of the technology sector. The Dow Jones fell for the first time in eight sessions as investors mulled higher interest rates and locked in recent profits. The US dollar index lifted to a 14-year high weighing on multinational firms. At  the close of  trade the Dow Jones index was down by 55 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index was lower by 0.2% while the Nasdaq was higher by 19 points or 0.4%.
