French actress Catherine Deneuve was described by Look magazine in the 1960s as "the most beautiful woman in the world." HCC film professors Marie Westhaver and Mike Giuliano talk about Deneuve's iconic cultural status in this podcast episode. Following Deneuve's breakthrough role in Jacques Demy's colorful musical "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" (1964), she worked with some of the world's leading directors: Roman Polanski's "Repulsion" (1965), Luis Bunuel's "Belle de Jour" (1967) and "Tristana" (1970), and Francois Truffaut's "Mississippi Mermaid" (1969) and "The Last Metro" (1980). Deneuve has remained a beautifully enduring screen presence with films including "Indochine" (1992) and "A Christmas Tale" (2008). Marie and Mike provide the talk, but you will have to provide your own wine and cheese.
