Sophia, or Divine Wisdom, evolved from a pre-existent companion to God in Hebrew scriptures (Proverbs) to an emanation of God and the World Soul in Alexandrian Jewish philosophy. Gnosticism then depicted her as an Aeon whose "fall" created our imperfect material world. Suppressed by the early Christian Church, Sophia re-emerged in Western mysticism, psychology, and modern spiritual movements, culminating in her identification with "The Lady" in the Chris Bledsoe narrative. This highlights Sophia's enduring significance as the Divine Feminine and a path to spiritual liberation.
