In any normal year, the approaching holiday season would be met by most with anticipation, excitement, gift shopping, the planning of family gatherings and holiday parties. Even during “normal” years, there is often stress that accompanies the joy. With the unprecedented series of events that 2020 has delivered, one might question not only how we might greet the holidays but whether there is a reason to celebrate at all. In this era of COVID-19, mixed messages and outright mistruths from leadership, egregious acts of racial violence and bigotry and the most divided this nation has been since the 1800’s, is there a way to remember who we are as a people, embrace one another with compassion and love and find joy in the holiday season.
