Sophia, initially scared about the adoption process with Tate Black (Leo Howard), had left her newborn at the safe haven box at a fire station, creating a complex narrative involving her lawyer Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) and a fake adoption scheme. However, spoilers suggest that Sophia may back out from the plan.

DOOL sees that despite her initial panic, Sophia was taken care of medically by Melinda, who empathizes with her situation, having been a pregnant teen herself. The plan was to pretend to give birth in Chicago, with adoptive parents taking the baby straight from the hospital.
