Subduing The Fallen Flesh

How is the believer in Christ Jesus suppose to overcome the residual issues of sin in his flesh? Should he turn to religion to improve and reform his behavior? Should he subject his body to disciplines and law codes that rigidly regulate his flesh? Paul, in Romans 8:12-13, gives us an altogether different approach than does religion.
