AM Report 22 Aug 18: S&P500 hitting an all-time high.

US sharemarkets rose on Tuesday with the S&P500 hitting an all-time high during the session. The energy (+0.5%) and materials (+0.4%) sectors lifted on US dollar weakness and hopes that the US and China could resolve their trade dispute. Luxury home builder Toll Brothers' shares jumped 13.8% after reporting better-than-expected quarterly results. Online brokers Charles Schwab, E*Trade Financial and TD Ameritrade tumbled between 2.4% and 7.1% after CNBC reported JPMorgan planned to roll out a free digital brokerage service next week. The Dow Jones index rose by 63 points or 0.3%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.2% and the Nasdaq rose by 38 points or 0.5%.
