Morning Report 30 Jul 21: US sharemarkets were firmer on Thursday

While the latest estimate of economic growth was below expectations, analysts believe it will quell talk of a taper in Federal Reserve bond purchases. Upbeat earnings reports also buoyed investor sentiment, Shares in Ford rose 3.8% and Yum Brands rose by 6.3% after earnings results. The Dow Jones index rose by 154 points or 0.4%. The S&P 500 index rose by 0.4%. And the Nasdaq index lifted by 16 points or 0.1%.
