“I received a scholarship from Carl Duisberg Gesellschaft in Cologne, Germany. We were fourteen South Africans from various institutions. This was the most enjoyable transition for me. It sounded like I had stabilised my professional development journey and further studies. I was back on track. But it was a transition that was to take me further away from my family for years to come. The programme was called South Africa Management Programme (in Germany). It included learning the German language, cultural encounters, management development workshops, and work-based learning in German companies with business connections to South Africa. After two years, I returned to South Africa, only to decide to go back to Germany immediately. The reasons are given in the book's next chapter”, by Sam Tsima (the author).
