8 "To the angel of the church in Smyrna write: These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again. (Rev. 2:8, NIV)

9 I know your afflictions and your poverty-- yet you are rich! I know about the slander of those who say they are Jews and are not, but are a synagogue of Satan. (Rev. 2:9, NIV)

28 A person is not a Jew who is one only outwardly, nor is circumcision merely outward and physical. 29 No, a person is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is circumcision of the heart, by the Spirit, not by the written code. 11 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. The one who is victorious will not be hurt at all by the second death. (Rev. 2:11, NIV)

13 The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. 14 Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. 15 Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20:13-15, NIV)

Main Idea:

· As Christians, we must be willing to make ultimate sacrifices for the name of Christ.

· In the midst of suffering, our poverty is actually wealth, and our defeat is actually victory.
