Is Von der Leyen’s €750bn recovery plan a game-changer?

The European Commission yesterday (27th May) unveiled proposals for a whopping seven hundred and fifty billion euro recovery fund to help EU countries, regions and sectors deal with the economic fallout of the Covid pandemic.

Ursula von der Leyen, the Commission President unveiled plans for the initiative which she’s calling Next Generation EU.

The EU chief is proposing the fund would be distributed through a combination of five hundred billion in grants and two hundred and fifty billion in loans.
