Sometimes the best crafted disinformation survives for decades or centuries no matter how often disproven.  Really delicious lies last. Was there a woman Pope?  Was Pope Joan real ? Of course not ! Yes, there is a lot of evidence about Pope Joan, all negative. All completely disproving the story. However so many want it to be true that the the lie lives on.
