Proposals to introduce an EU border force are being criticised by a Dublin MEP.
It is widely expected the EU Commission President-Jean Claude Junker, will reveal details of the plans in a state of the union address this week, at the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
Guards could be deployed aimed at intercepting new arrivals, prevent unauthorised travel and protect the European Union’s external borders.
The move is seen as an attempt to deal with the migrant crisis.
