When is it ok to use a cognitive bias?

We can't second guess everything we know and test it to make sure we aren't falling into a cognitive bias of some sort. We have to use mental shortcuts and ignore some information just to be able to function in an information overloaded world. Simon Coles, Steve Thomson, Karina Hulstrom and I had a short chat about when it's okay to take the "lazy" way out and just go with what you know to be true.
