Mid-Session 30 Apr 18: Banks help lift the market higher

The financial sector is leading the gains on Monday, up 0.9%. That’s helping the local sharemarket firm, with the ASX 200 up 13 points or 0.2% to 5,967. So far in April, the index has risen 3.7%.
