MESSAGE SUMMARY: We can say that "there but for the grace of God go I", but we are ALL sinners. James tells us in James 4:8,10: “Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you.". We cannot pray and enter the "Throne Room of God" in our pride -- we can only enter the "Throne Room" as we humble ourselves before Jesus.
(NOTE: You can, also, refer to the “Prayer of Humble Access” in the Anglican Book of Common Prayer; 1662: “We do not presume to come to this thy Table, O merciful Lord, trusting in our own righteousness, but in thy manifold and great mercies. We are not worthy so much as to gather up the crumbs under thy Table. But thou art the same Lord, whose property is always to have mercy: Grant us therefore, gracious Lord, so to eat the flesh of thy dear Son Jesus Christ, and to drink his blood, that our sinful bodies may be made clean by his body, and our souls washed through his most precious blood, and that we may evermore dwell in him, and he in us. Amen.”).
TODAY’S AFFIRMATION: I affirm that because I am in Jesus Christ, I will entrust to Him my future. I know whom I have believed, and am convinced that he is able to guard what I have entrusted to him for that day. (From 2 Timothy 1:12).
